The Federal Emergency Management Agency is visiting Vermont to assess the damage from last week's snow storm that caused more than 130,000 power outages.

Vermont must show at least $1 million in eligible costs. Counties also must meet certain thresholds to get federal help.

FEMA will be assessing damage in Chittenden, Franklin, Lamoille, and Orleans counties starting on Wednesday.

Emergency officials say publicly owned and municipal utilities are eligible for 75 percent federal reimbursement of the costs of restoring power if the state and counties meet the federal threshold.
