The family of a Rhode Island woman says she was allegedly allowed to leave a Providence hospital without shoes or a coat in the middle of a snowstorm.

WJAR reports the family of Gina Marfeo, 50, says she has a history of physical and mental illnesses. She was rushed to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital last Monday in severe pain, but no one in her family knew she was there.

Marfeo’s family says she is there regularly for a variety of medical issues. They say she was allowed to leave the hospital at 2 a.m. and call a cab, which couldn’t make it up her driveway and left her at the end.

Marfeo walked the rest of the way until she fell. She then crawled the rest of the way. Marfeo had a heart attack later that day and was admitted to the hospital once again.

A spokesperson for the hospital said rules prevent any information on the patient to be disclosed, but that officials met with her family to discuss concerns.
