Major Traffic Delays Following Fiery Crash in O'Neill Tunnel

One lane of traffic remains closed in Boston's Thomas P. O'Neill Jr. Tunnel following a fiery car crash.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the car fire is now out and the right two lanes have reopened to traffic.

According to Massachusetts State Police, the crash occurred on I-93 northbound just inside of the tunnel on Sunday afternoon. The car involved was fully engulfed in flames, prompting officials to detour traffic at exit 20.

All occupants were able to safely escape the car, police said.

Although lanes have been reopened, traffic delays remain heavy in Boston.
