Fired Mass. Cop Appealing His Termination

The investigation is ongoing and Jeffrey Coco has not been criminally charged

A Pittsfield, Massachusetts, police officer fired for allegedly stealing more than $150,000 from the police union wants his job back.

A lawyer for former officer Jeffrey Coco tells the Berkshire Eagle "We will be following the appropriate channels to appeal his termination." The lawyer did not comment on the allegations.

Coco was fired on Monday after an internal affairs investigation and a local Civil Service hearing found he was "responsible for multiple misconduct charges."

Chief Michael Wynn said the investigation found evidence that Coco had stolen the union funds while serving as the president of the department's International Brotherhood of Police Officers local.

The investigation is ongoing and Coco has not been criminally charged.

Police have only said that Coco took the money for "personal use."
