FD: Dental Equipment Causes 4-Alarm Blaze

Officials said firefighters were battling the blaze in a 2-and-a-half wood frame building at 130 Babson St.

Boston firefighters are blaming a piece of dental equipment for a 4-alarm house fire that sent three people to the hospital in Mattapan Square Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said firefighters were battling the blaze in a 2-and-a-half wood frame building at 130 Babson St. The building is reportedly home to residential apartments as well as a dental office.

Surveillance video captured what appears to be Doctor Walter Holman, a dentist in his 80s, walk out of the burning home. Holan appears to be trying to figure out how to rescue his adult some trapped inside.

Firefighters were able to rescue the son, who remains in critical condition at last check.

One firefighter was hospitalized with a minor knee injury. 

Officials estimate the damage at $500,000.
