Firefighters Battle Overnight Rail Yard Building Fire in Massachusetts

Crews battling an overnight fire at a Massachusetts rail yard were hindered because of a lack of a water source, authorities confirmed Friday morning.

Deerfield's police chief confirmed that crews were alerted to a reported building fire at the East Deerfield Rail Yard around 3:20 a.m. Friday, where they found a working building fire when they arrived.

Deerfield police say crews from Franklin and Hampshire counties along with crews from southern New Hampshire and Vermont assisted with the fire.

There were four ladder trucks and more than 20 other pieces of equipment used in fighting the fire, according to Deerfield police.

The State Fire Marshal's Office, state police and local police are investigating.
