Former Boston Funeral Director Charged With Larceny, Improperly Disposing Bodies Held on $50K Bail

Joseph O'Donnell faces a 278 count indictment, including charges of larceny, improperly disposing of human remains

A former Boston funeral director charged with improperly storing bodies and stealing thousands of dollars in funeral pre-payments was ordered held on $50,000 bail and appointed an attorney at his arraignment Monday.

Joseph O'Donnell faces a 278 count indictment, including multiple counts of larceny, forgery, embezzlement and improperly disposing of human remains.

Prosecutors said O'Donnell's license expired in 2009 and he continued doing business until the foreclosure of his funeral home in 2013. 

Authorities discovered human remains inside two storage facilities outside of Boston back in July.
