Former Massachusetts Teacher Faces a Judge for Angry Tirade

Fired from his job as an English teacher at Dracut High School in Massachusetts and charged with trespassing and disturbing the peace at the school Thursday, Robert Moulton had his day in Lowell District court on Friday.

The 46 year old was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the school, as he had previously been by court order a month ago.

"I will not go back until they invite me. Which will happen very soon, when the truth is known," Moulton said in court.

Moulton, who was an award-winning teacher in his 16 years at Dracut High, is also a writer. He shared some graphic and sexually explicit essays with his AP students last year.

He was terminated. This week, his firing was officially approved by an arbitrator. On Thursday, he showed up at the school, which was placed on lockdown when he tried to get in.

"Simply to be arrested, to draw attention to, it's an act of civil disobedience. I have a long line of precedent, including Martin Luther King, Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi, Jesus, Socrates. These people were all arrested for good cause," Moulton told the media after he left court.

Moulton is due back in court Feb. 5.
