Freezing Rain Causes Slick Roads Tuesday Morning

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said more than 1,400 crews worked throughout the early morning to treat the roads

A round of freezing rain overnight Monday left roadways slick across New England Tuesday morning.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said more than 1,400 crews worked throughout the early morning to treat the roads.

They recommend drivers take it slow to avoid any accidents.

The National Weather Service says motorists across much of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine could be in for a tough commute.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through mid-day Tuesday and the forecast across the region calls for snow overnight will turn to sleet and freezing rain.

Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected along with about a tenth-of an inch of ice.

Hazardous road conditions with limited visibility are expected.
