Funeral Held for Boys Killed in 4-Alarm Fire

A funeral will be held Thursday for the two boys killed in a Lawrence, Massachusetts, house fire

A funeral was held Thursday for the two boys killed in a Lawrence, Massachusetts, house fire.

Kelvin Medina, 9, and his four-year-old brother, Jean Carlos Marrero Santiago, were killed in the four-alarm fire last week, when they were unable to get out of a third-floor bedroom.

The funeral was held Thursday morning at 11 at St. Patrick Church in Lawrence.

The state fire marshal determined that the blaze was an accident caused by an electrical wiring failure in a first-floor ceiling in the three-story, six-unit apartment building. Several cars were also destroyed by the fire.

Residents who escaped said they were alerted by smoke alarms and a stranger who threw rocks at windows to alert residents.

Three other residents and one firefighter were hurt in the fire.
