Boston Police are investigating two shootings — one that injured a young girl early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a call at about 12:11 a.m. for shots fired on Heath Street in Jamaica Plain. When they arrived to the Hailey Apartments, they found an 8-year-old suffering from two graze wounds.
The girl was transported to an area hospital where her injuries are said to be non-life threatening. She is reportedly in stable condition and good spirits.
Police said that 15 rounds were fired out of a car. The girl was grazed by a bullet in the stomach and has another bullet lodged in her shoulder.
The mother of the victim told police that they had been outside with a group of people when they heard gunfire and ran home. She noticed the girl's wounds when they got inside.
Police said the mother could not provide a description of the suspect.
"People in the neighborhood have to talk," said Jessica Pomales, the victim's sister. "I can't believe I'm saying, 'I'm thankful my sister got shot in the shoulder and didn't die.' I shouldn't have to say something like that."

"We could be talking about a young 8-year-old girl being buried," said Bill Evans, Boston's police commissioner. "Everyone has to step up."
A short time later, at 12:24 a.m., police said a 24-year-old man in Roxbury reported being shot as he entered his building on Brandon Street. That victim also suffered a non-life threatening injury.
"I think we should all be outraged," said Evans. "Again, this goes to the challenge Mayor Walsh, myself, and all of us are up against: that's too many guns on the street."
Both shootings remain under investigation.
