GlobalPost Releases ISIS Message Sent to James Foley's Family

GlobalPost: James Foley's family received the letter Aug. 12

The Boston-based news organization that employed executed New Hampshire-native journalist James Foley has released the last letter the militant group ISIS sent to his family before his murder.

According to the GlobalPost, the Foley family received an email from ISIS on Tuesday, Aug. 12, stating their son was going to be executed.

GlobalPost reports militants in the letter say Foley's death would be in retaliation for recent U.S. airstrikes against the Islamic state in Iraq.

Foley was freelancing for GlobalPost in Syria when he was kidnapped Thanksgiving Day 2012. He was beheaded by ISIS militants on camera this week.
