Gov. Baker Visits Home for Veterans

Gov. Charlie Baker took some time on Veterans Day to meet with vets face-to-face at the Soldiers Home of Massachusetts in Chelsea.

The facility provides continuing care for veterans of every war.

Music Therapy is among the ways they soothe and restore veterans at the home.

Room by room, Baker was greeted by and greeted veterans.

Tony Baleno is 92. He served in the Navy Special Forces in World War II, and shared pictures from those days of combat with Baker. He was asked what the governor's visit meant to him.

"Means a lot," Baleno said, fighting back tears. "It means he cares about us."

"I think it's always important on Veterans Day to reach out wherever we can to folks who served the country," Baker said.
