Government Reportedly Trying to Cut Deal With Families of Victims of James ‘Whitey' Bulger

The federal government is trying to cut a deal with families of the victims of James "Whitey" Bulger.

According to the Boston Herald, the U.S. Attorney's Office is having them split $822,000 in cash and proceeds from an auction of Bulger's belongings.

In exchange, they would agree never to sue the U.S. government.

Sixteen families are reportedly included in the offer.

They would also be able to split any additional stashes of Bulger's money, should they be found.

The longtime mobster was convicted in 2013 in a sweeping racketeering indictment. He is serving a life sentence.
