Grand Jury Indicts Boston Man for Murder

A grand jury has indicted a suspect in connection with the stabbing of two Malden, Massachusetts men, resulting in one death.

A grand jury has indicted a suspect in connection with the stabbing of two Malden, Massachusetts men, resulting in one death.

Juan Buruca, 39, of Boston, was indicted Thursday in Middlesex Superior Court for a charge of first degree murder.

He also faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed assault to murder, two counts of armed assault in a dwelling, and two counts of burglary.

No arraignment date has been scheduled.

On Aug. 9, Malden Police responded to a report of a double stabbing at a residence at 28 Newhall Street.

One victim, Jorge Alberto Machado Mejia, 48, of Malden, was pronounced dead at Whidden Hospital. The second victim, Moises Cortez, 45, of Malden, was treated for stab wounds and released.

Investigation revealed that the defendant was romantically involved with the sister of one of the victims.

Buruca allegedly argued and had a physical altercation with the men in his East Boston home. When the victims returned to the home, Buruca attacked them, according to prosecutors.
