Gun Found Hidden in Playscape at Hartford Park

Police investigating the source of gunshots in Hartford, Connecticut, on Sunday found a gun hidden in a playscape in a local park.

Hartford patrol officers and members of the Hartford Shooting Task Force responded to the area of 493 Zion Street on Sunday after Shot Spotter detected two gunshots.

Officers found 12-gauge shotgun shells behind 501 Zion St. and searched the area, but did not find any victims.

Then, witnesses told members of the task force that they saw someone running toward Park Terrace and investigators found one black Benelli U.S.A Corp. M3 Super 90 Shotgun with three live PDX1 Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds hidden inside a playscape on the eastern side of Pope Park, police said.

The serial number on the shotgun was obliterated, police said.

A K9 searched for the shooter, but the person who fired the gun remains at large, police said. Anyone with information should call Hartford police.
