Heightened Alert at New England Sports Venues After NYC, NJ Bombings

    A mass casualty drill was held at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Tuesday to help train local authorities and medical groups to respond in the event of real-life tragedies. (Published Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016)

    Despite the arrest made in connection with a series of bombings in New York City and New Jersey over the weekend, law enforcement officials remain on heightened alert, especially at New England sports venues. 

    In Worcester, Massachusetts, Tuesday, there will be a large-scale disaster drill exercising how agencies work together to respond to a mass casualty incident. 

    At Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, state police quickly increased security measures following the weekend's events. 

    Governor Charlie Baker says state, local and federal teams have a well-detailed plan in place.

    Authorities say the strict security will remain in place for Thursday's Patriots game against the Houston Texans. 

    The FBI in Boston says they have also been in touch with security at Fenway Park. 

    As for the drill, it will be a full day-long exercise getting underway around 9:30 a.m.
