A hiker from Indiana has died following an apparent medical emergency on a Vermont hiking trail.
Emergency responders were called to a shelter along the Long Trail on Sunday in the town of Peru.
State police say 57-year-old Michael Keethers, of Indianapolis, Indiana, had taken ill and become unresponsive.
Authorities say resuscitation efforts failed, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police continue to investigation.
