A hiker required rescue this weekend after she fell off a trail at Mount Tom State Reservation in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and was impaled by a stick.

The Republican newspaper reports it took two hours for three firefighters, one police officer and two reservation employees to reach the victim after the initial call reporting her fall was placed around 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

Fire Capt. Anthony Cerruti says the woman suffered a puncture wound to her thigh and was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment. The woman couldn't walk due to her injuries and was carried out in a basket.

Cerruti says the woman fell near the top of the T Bagg trail, which he described as tough and full of loose rocks. She was not identified.
