Hiker Injured After Falling Down Steep Trail

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says 34-year-old Rebecca L. Shannon of Warner suffered non-life-threatening injuries

Authorities say a hiker wearing sandals slipped and fell on rocks while climbing down a steep trail on Magalloway Mountain in Pittsburg, New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says 34-year-old Rebecca L. Shannon of Warner suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she fell Sunday afternoon. She had to be carried about a half-mile to an ambulance.

Improper footwear appears to be a primary factor in the fall.

Conservation officer Chris Egan says it was the second rescue in Pittsburg in 10 days involving a hiker wearing sandals. He says trails can be steep or wet and that wearing proper footwear can help prevent falls.
