Holiday Pops Kicking off 43rd Season

The Boston Pops and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, under the direction of conductor Keith Lockhart, open the 2016 Holiday Pops season on Wednesday

In a sure sign that Christmas is almost here, the Holiday Pops is kicking off its 43rd season this week.

The Boston Pops and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, under the direction of conductor Keith Lockhart, open the 2016 Holiday Pops season on Wednesday at Boston's Symphony Hall. It's the first of 44 shows in a month.

The program features two new arrangements, including a Home for the Holidays medley and an angel-themed medley that includes "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.''

Guest performers include singers Megan Hilty and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., as well as Gov. Charlie Baker narrating "Twas the Night Before Christmas.''

The thrills continue after Christmas with three performances of the entire score from the 1985 movie "Back to the Future,'' and a New Year's Eve swing show.
