Authorities are searching for a person of interest after a woman was murdered and her 4-year-old child was found alone inside their home in Methuen, Massachusetts on Monday morning.
The Essex District Attorney's Office said Methuen Police were doing a well-being check at a townhouse on Tudor Street at 5:45 a.m. on Monday. After making a forced entry, they found an unresponsive adult female inside. She was taken to Holy Family Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The woman's 4-year-old child was found unharmed inside the home and is now staying with a relative.
The woman has been identified as 29-year-old Wanda Rosa. Her cause of death have not been released.
Police are looking for 32-year-old Emilio Delarosa, who was identified as Rosa's ex-boyfriend and the child's father.
Delarosa, who is on the run, is not considered to be a danger to the public, according to the district attorney.
The murder does not appear to be a random act of violence, officials said. Methuen Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney's office are continuing to investigate.
