Human Remains Found Near Connecticut School

Human remains have been found in an area adjacent to Vernon Center Middle School in Vernon, Connecticut

Human remains have been found in an area adjacent to Vernon Center Middle School in Vernon, Connecticut.

According to a statement released by the school district, the remains were found on a wooded property adjacent to Vernon Center Middle School, which is located at 777 Hartford Turnpike in Vernon.

The remains were not on school property and there is no danger to students. Games planned for this evening are expected to take part as scheduled.

"Our students are in no danger and we do not expect that there will be any interruption to the normal operations of the school," a statement from Superintendent Mary P. Conway and Assistant Superintendent Jeffrey Burt said.

The remains were found less than a mile and a half from where a woman's skull was found in March 2013.

Police are still trying to identify the woman and released a sketch earlier this week. A Quinnipiac University student drew the sketch based on the biological profile from post-mortem exams.
