Hunter Falls 15 Feet

Officials say 19-year-old Cody Barrett fell from a tree stand near the summit of Franklin Mountain in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire's Fish and Game Department says rescuers came to the aid of an injured bow hunter who fell 15 feet from a tree stand.

Officers say 19-year-old Cody Barrett was able to provide information about his location in Swanzey and injuries Monday. The stand was about a mile behind his home near the summit of Franklin Mountain.

It took rescuers about an hour to reach him, treat and remove him to an ambulance.

Conservation officers said Barrett was not wearing a tree stand safety harness. They said the majority of hunting injuries and fatalities are not firearm-related - they happen due to falls from tree stands.
