Husband Testifies Against Wife in Toddler's Death

Prosecutors say Kimberly Peno beat the boy after drinking four 20-ounce beers and smoking crack cocaine

The husband of a Fall River, Massachusetts woman charged with fatally beating their 2-year-old son has taken the stand to testify against his wife.

The Sun Chronicle reports
that Joseph Peno said at the murder trial of Kimberly Peno on Wednesday that he saw his wife giving their son, Timothy, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in their Rehoboth home on March 17, 2010.

He described seeing blood on them and hearing her say she "was going to do a lot of time for this."

Prosecutors say Kimberly Peno beat the boy after drinking four 20-ounce beers and smoking crack cocaine.

She pleaded not guilty.

Kimberly Peno's attorney says her husband was responsible for the boy's death.

Joseph Peno was charged with child endangerment and received three years of probation in return for testifying against his wife.
