Impaired Driver Charged in Crash That Killed Dog: Police

A 31-year-old Naugatuck woman has been charged with driving under the influence after a crash that killed a dog, police said.

Kayla Lashway, 31, of Naugatuck, is accused of causing a crash on School Street at PT Barnum Square just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to a news release form police.

The Bethel Fire Department extricated both people who were in the other vehicle and they went to the hospital.

Their injuries are not life-threatening, according to police, but a dog in the vehicle died because of the crash.

Lashway, who was not hurt, was charged with operation under the influence, failure to drive right and improper lane.

She was released on bond and is due in court in Danbury on Dec. 7.

It’s not clear if she has an attorney.
