Inmate Suffers Fractured Jaw in Jail Brawl

An inmate was taken to the hospital after a fight broke out during a card game at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in Vermont

An inmate is being treated for a fractured jaw after being struck by another inmate at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility, according to Vermont State Police.

Christopher Hope Jr., 32, and Paul Kastner Jr., 25, were playing cards when a verbal dispute occurred. Corrections officers ordered the men to return to their cells when Hope hit Kastner in the head, knocking him to the ground.

Kastner was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment of a fractured jaw.

Hope is currently in prison pending charges for assault and robbery, aggravated assault, and unlawful restraint in the first degree. He was given a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court for simple assault on Feb. 23, 2015.
