Minimum security inmates are helping to renovate a New Hampshire summer camp where sessions were canceled this year because of an infestation of bed bugs.

The bugs were found in two cabins at Camp Spaulding in Penacook in July. Managers decided the camp should undergo extensive treatment, including replacing bed frames, sealing the floors and walls, and steam cleaning.

Four to six inmates from the Corrections Transitional Work Center in Concord are replacing old wooden bunk beds with metal ones. They will be painting the floors, ceilings and walls and building a new wooden deck.

Child and Family Services of New Hampshire partner with the Department of Corrections Family Connections Center to allow children of incarcerated parents to participate in the camp.
