Judge: New Hampshire Kidnapping Suspect Can't Question Girl Before Trial

Lawyers for 35-year-old Nathaniel Kibby wanted to question the girl

A New Hampshire judge says a man prosecutors accuse of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and raping her repeatedly during her nine months of captivity cannot question her before trial.

Lawyers for 35-year-old Nathaniel Kibby wanted to question the girl about exposure to media coverage and the amount of freedom she was given to move about his trailer in Gorham, where prosecutors say he used a stun gun, zip ties and a shock collar to control her.

The girl returned to her North Conway home in July 2014.

The judge also has denied Kibby's bid to question the girl's sister and three school workers about her home life. The judge's ruling was released Friday.

Kibby's lawyers will be allowed to question a Maine state trooper about trying to track the girl's cellphone activity.
