Report: Tsarnaev's Mom: Allah Will Burn the U.S. With Fire

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva has been wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant for shoplifting and has not returned to the U.S. since Tsarnaev was arrested in April 2013

Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's mother has said that Allah's "eternal and terrifying fire" will consume the United States after a jury sentenced him to death, one of her supporters told Vocativ.

Zarina Kasenova, a supporter, told Vocativ that Tsarnaev's mother Zubeidat Tsarnaeva made the remark in an angry WhatsApp message on Sunday.

"They think that they are killing us and they celebrate this, but we are the ones who will rejoice when Allah grants us the chance to behold them in the flames of an eternal and terrifying fire, an otherworldly flame," she reportedly said in Russian.

Tsarnaeva has been wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant for shoplifting and has not returned to the U.S. since Tsarnaev was arrested in April 2013.

Meanwhile, a judge has indicated that he will formally sentence Tsarnaev to death next month after hearing from about 20 victims.

Judge George O'Toole Jr. said during a status conference Tuesday that Tsarnaev's formal sentencing hearing will be scheduled some time in June. He did not set an exact date.

A jury last week determined that Tsarnaev should get the death penalty in the 2013 attack. Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured when Tsarnaev and his brother placed two pressure-cooker bombs near the marathon finish line.

Prosecutor William Weinreb told the judge that about 20 victims have asked to speak at the sentencing hearing. Tsarnaev will also be given the opportunity to speak.
