Last Push for Ayotte, Hassan Before Election Day

Both candidates have busy schedules leading right through Election Day

Customers at diners across New Hampshire are getting attention from U.S. Senate candidates along with their coffee.

Republican incumbent Kelly Ayotte and Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan traveled the state Monday for their last full day of campaigning before Tuesday's election. Their paths didn't cross, though both candidates made stops at a Peterborough Diner.

“We’re going to be doing 24 stops in 24 hours so I’m very excited about that,” Ayotte said at the diner.

At Brewbakers coffee shop in Keene, Hassan picked up a cappuccino with the message "VOTE" spelled out in the foam. At The Four Aces Diner in West Lebanon, Ayotte was grilled by a 4-year-old girl named Maggie, who invited her over to play and gave her a special rock for good luck.

Ayotte and Hassan are in a tight race that will help determine control of the U.S. Senate, where Republicans have a slight edge.
