Lawyer: Blackstone Mother Plans to Plead Not Guilty

The lawyer for Erika Murray added that the murder charges are "extremely speculative"

The lawyer for a mother from Blackstone, Massachusetts, whose dead infants were found in what has become known as the house of squalor, says her client plans to plead not guilty at her arraignment this month, according to the Boston Globe.

The lawyer for Erika Murray added that the murder charges are "extremely speculative."

According to Murray's attorney, the medical examiner hasn't made progress about the cause and means of the childrens' deaths.

The DA's office says otherwise, but didn't provide any details.

Charges have also been brought against boyfriend Raymond Rivera, 38, who pleaded not guilty Tuesday for his alleged actions, or inactions, while living in the house of squalor.

Bail for Rivera has been set at $100,000 and he is due back in court Jan. 14.

The home has since been demolished and a Christmas tree has been put on the ground where it once stood.

Murray will be arraigned on murder charges on Dec. 29.
