Lead Levels Prompt Officials to Shut Off Some Water at Billerica, Mass. Schools

Three outlets were shut off at Vining, four at Hajjar and six at Dutile after lead levels above acceptable limits were found

Some water outlets in Billerica, Massachusetts, schools have been shut off after officials found unfit lead levels in some drinking water, according to the Lowell Sun. 

They report the school district volunteered for testing at Eugene C. Vining School, Frederick J Dutile School, Hajjar Elementary School and John F. Kennedy Elementary School. 

Three outlets were shut off at Vining, four at Hajjar and six at Dutile after lead levels above acceptable limits were found. 

Superintendent Tim Piwowar said the results were not unexpected and that repairs will be completed in short order.
