Localized Flooding Likely as Downpours Move Through

The risk becomes focused in Eastern New England by Friday afternoon

Drenching downpours will continue to roam through New England Friday, triggered by a very slow moving cold front.

While anyone in New England is fair game for the downpours and storms during the morning, which will create brief street flooding, the risk becomes focused in Eastern New England by Friday afternoon.

That means Eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine will see the most downpours during the afternoon and evening. When it rains, it really will pour because the humidity is so high. A quick 1-3" of rain will fall in these downpours. That's why brief, localized flash flooding is likely.

In Western New England, including parts of Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont, most of the afternoon will be dry with some sun breaking out.

The front gets stuck in New England this weekend. That means more of the same in terms of our weather for the next couple of days. Expect fog each morning, especially dense near the coast, followed by occasional downpours on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday the risk of wet weather is highest near the coastline. Meanwhile, much like Friday afternoon, Western New England will be dry with sunshine.

Everyone's risk of occasional showers and downpours increases on Sunday. But remember, neither weekend day is a washout by any means. It's just the type of weather that requires you to be ready for a passing downpour at almost any time. And when it's not raining, it most certainly will be very humid!
