Officials: Teen With Gun Tried to Visit Milton, Mass. High School

Authorities say a young man with a firearm tried to visit a student at Milton High School in Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon.

Jonathan Villagran, a 19-year-old from Watertown who is not a student at the school, is in custody. The school, which is on Gile Road, was locked down until just before 5 p.m.

Milton police say students were not in danger and the school was checked for safety. Police say the suspect in custody didn't get into the building, either.

"It was actually not as tense as one would predict," said senior Kevin Mehdizadeh, who was locked down in a room with six other people. "It was actually a pretty relaxed environment."

"We got an email from the school to tell us that the kids were in lockdown, and then they told us to stay at home until they could give us more information. And then I just heard from other parents that it was going on," said Elaine Davis, a parent. "I think Milton [High] School is really very good about taking care of the kids this way."

Aerial footage showed police cars in the driveway and outside of the school. Milton Fire confirms the lockdown happened just after 3 p.m.
