Lowell Man Convicted in 2014 Murder

A Massachusetts man was convicted Tuesday for the 2014 death of a Lowell woman, according to prosecutors.

James Sheedy, 55, also of Lowell, admitted to murdering 55-year-old Barbara Romano on May 31, 2014, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.

Investigators say Romano was found with multiple stab wounds to her neck, abdomen and extremities in the defendant’s home. Sheedy had stabbed the victim the day before, then left the apartment and tried to commit suicide before calling authorities himself.

A knife, socks and a towel with the victim’s blood on it were found upon investigation.
