Lower Speed Limit in Boston Goes Into Effect

Unmarked roads will be reduced down to 25 MPH, down from 30 MPH

The speed limit in Boston is set to drop Monday in a move experts hope will help save lives.

Unmarked roads will be reduced down to 25 MPH, down from 30 MPH.

The move is part of Mayor Marty Walsh's plan to eliminate traffic deaths by 2030.

The speeds around schools are already lower and this would not apply to state roads in Boston.

Seventeen people died in car accidents in Boston last year.
