4 Hospitalized Following Crash Involving MBTA Bus in Burlington, Mass.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 72-year-old Natick man was driving alone when he crossed the yellow line and struck the van

Four people were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a crash involving an MBTA vehicle in Burlington, Massachusetts.

The crash between a car and an MBTA Ride van was reported at about 8:45 a.m. on Winn Street at Wyman Road, according to the Burlington Fire Department.

Burlington Fire said three people were taken to Lahey Hospital and one person was taken to Winchester Hospital. All those involved in the crash were said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 72-year-old Natick man was driving alone when he crossed the yellow line and struck the van. Two female passengers, 37 and 61, were in the van, as well as the 37-year-old driver, who is from Randolph.

It is unclear what may have caused the car to cross the yellow line.

Aerial footage of the scene showed the Ride van and the second car disabled in the middle of the street. Both vehicles appeared to have severe damage to their fronts.

The Ride is an MBTA door-to-door service offered to commuters with disabilities.

Authorities said a section of Win Street was closed for the investigation. It reopened at about 10:15 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
