MBTA, Firm Ignored Signs Extension Project Costs Could Spike

Extension project in jeopardy as officials try to control costs

The MBTA and the firm hired to manage the Green Line extension ignored signs that the cost of the project could skyrocket, according to a recent MBTA report.

The Boston Globe reports the future of the project is in jeopardy as the agency tries to cut costs and find other ways to pay for the extension into Medford and Somerville.

Project officials have come under scrutiny after it was revealed that the project could cost up to $3 billion.
