“Engineer”-ing Success: MIT Wins Playoff Game, Remains Undefeated

The undefeated Engineers played the first playoff football game in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's history Saturday, beating Husson University.

Saturday was a proud day for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but the accomplish was not academic.

It was athletic.

The Division III MIT Engineers won the first playoff football game played in the school's history, defeating Husson University 27-20.

With the win, the historic university remains undefeated - the Engineers went into the playoffs with a 9-0 record.

The players at MIT say they know academic achievement helps foster athletic success.

"We just enjoy it that much more because it's a time to get away from the academics," said senior running back Justin Wallace Friday. "It's a time where it's nothing on our mind. We can get away from the stressful academic atmosphere and just get out there and play."
