Maine Gov. LePage Hosts Drug Summit

Democratic legislative leaders say the event is too focused on law enforcement

Maine Governor Paul LePage brought together top law enforcement, government officials, and medical professionals to talk heroin at his drug summit in Augusta.

But the governor did not answer any questions about his summit. He had been criticized for not having more drug treatment and prevention represented in the panel.

The governor's spokesperson says the big take away from the summit is about communication and collaboration.

And Maine State Police are beefing up their fusion center, sharing drug information with medical and EMS professionals, and getting help from the National Guard.

The governor's spokesperson says its unclear when these changes to the fusion center will take place or if it will require more funding.
