Maine Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking; K-9 Sniffs Out Heroin From His Groin

Matthew Petrucci, 20, of Lyman faces felony charges

A Maine man is facing felony charges after a K-9 unit sniffed out heroin from his groin.

Matthew Petrucci, 20, of Lyman was stopped by a police trooper on Alfred Rd. in Kennebunk on Tuesday for a traffic violation.

Petrucci's driver's license was under suspension, so he was asked to exit his vehicle.

Police located a scale on his person, but Petrucci denied possessing drugs.

A maine State Police narcotics K-9 responded to the scene, and provided a positive alert to the odor of an illegal narcotic on Petrucci.

Petrucci was arrested for operating after suspension and transported to the York County Jail. As he was being led into the facility, he admitted to having drugs on him.

Officers then seized approximately 21 grams of suspected heroin from his groin area. He's being held on $10,000 cash bail.

Petrucci will make his first court appearance on July 22 on aggravated trafficking charges.
