Major Drug Bust in East Boston

Drugs, guns, and cash were all seized from 217 Bennington Street.

A major drug bust led Boston Police officers to copious amounts of drugs over over $180,000 in cash.

Thursday morning police first responded to reports of a man with a gun inside 217 Bennington Street in the East Boston neighborhood. When they arrived, the officers entered and searched the apartment unit.

After an initial drug discovery the officers froze the location and applied for a search warrant. Further investigation led the officers to over 15 kilograms of cocaine, approximately 47 grams of heroin, over 1,000 pills of oxycodone, over two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, two digital scales, five cell phones, four high capacity firearms complete with additional magazines and ammunition, and $182,819 in cash. Officers also found packaging materials consistent with materials used for drug distribution.

Roberto Alvayaro, 35 from East Boston, was arrested in connection to this case. He received multiple drug trafficking and possession charges as well as unlawful possession of ammunition.

“This is a significant drug bust that absolutely makes our community a safer place,” said Commissioner William Evans. “I most certainly have to commend and give credit to my officers for their ongoing courage, commitment and hard work that they put forth every day in their never ending efforts to make our city one of the safest big cities in the country.”
