A 17-year-old Dorchester teenager was shot in Dorchester on Saturday afternoon.
Boston Police confirmed that the incident occurred at Ripley Playground at about 2:24 p.m.
The teen was playing basketball while his family set up for a birthday party. After being shot in the jaw, he was transported to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery.
The injuries he suffered are considered not life threatening.
