Man, 84, Indicted for Sexual Assault, Molestation

Prosecutors allege that Jack Sales, of Cumberland, repeatedly sexually abused children in the 1980s.

An 84-year-old Cumberland man has been indicted on charges of sexual assault and child molestation.

Prosecutors allege that Jack Sales sexually assaulted a male juvenile known to him on various dates between May 1983 and May 1987. Sales is also accused of molesting four girls aged 14 or under on various dates over several years.

Prosecutors say the incidents took place in Cumberland.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced the indictment Friday.

Sales faces one count of first-degree sexual assault and five counts of second-degree child molestation.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 10 in Providence Superior Court.

It's unclear whether he's being represented by an attorney.
