Man Accused of East Sunday Shooting Denies Murder Charge

A Holyoke, Massachusetts, man charged with shooting another man to death after an argument on Easter Sunday has been held without bail.

The Republican of Springfield reports that 25-year-old Alejandro Rosario pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Hampden Superior Court to a murder charge.

Authorities say Rosario shot 30-year-old Luis Burgos, also of Holyoke, on April 5.

Rosario had pleaded not guilty in Holyoke District Court.

Police say they interviewed multiple witnesses who said that Rosario shot Burgos at his apartment complex after an argument over drugs.

Rosario said he shot Burgos because he feared for his own safety because Burgos had a gun.
