Man Accused of Fleeing Crash, Police Station in Vermont

Vermont state police say a New Hampshire man accused of driving dangerously and crashing on Interstate 89 twice tried to evade authorities by running away.

The crash happened late Saturday night in the median of the Exit 9 on ramp. When police arrived, no one was in the car. Witnesses said they had seen the car speeding, tailgating and passing other cars unsafely before the crash.

A police dog helped find the suspect 2 miles away on Route 2. Police say 23-year-old Cedric Brooks of Clarksville, New Hampshire, took off again at the Middlesex barracks but was captured again after a brief chase.

Brooks faces multiple charges, including escape. It was unclear Sunday whether he has an attorney.
