Man Accused of Kidnapping, Strangling Girlfriend

Police in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, have arrested a man accused of kidnapping and strangling his girlfriend early Thursday morning.

Rehoboth Police say a woman entered the police station around 12:40 a.m. and said she fled from her home on Winthrop Street after being beaten by her boyfriend, 32-year-old Devon Maiorano.

The woman told police she was tackled and dragged back into the apartment when she tried to flee and had her phone taken so she could not call 911.

She also told police Maiorano had several warrants for his arrest, was heavily intoxicated and had to leave their 1-year-old son in the apartment to reach police.

Police arrived at the apartment and found the home unattended and the child crying in the crib.

When police returned to the home around 4 a.m., they located and arrested Maiorano.

Maiorano is facing charges of assault and battery on a household member, kidnapping, strangulation, witness intimidation and destruction of property.

He is set to be arraigned Thursday.
