Man Accused of Stabbing Nephew, Taking Moped Denies Charges

A Bennington, Vermont, man has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault after police say he ran his 19-year-old nephew off the road, stabbed him in the back, and then took off on the teen's moped in a dispute over the suspect's girlfriend.

The Bennington Banner reports Michael Myers was ordered jailed without bail Monday.

Police say Myers' nephew suffered a punctured lung and an arm cut in the Friday incident. Myers later surrendered at a hotel.

Myers had been on furlough at the time after being sentenced in 2009 to serve between seven and 15 years behind bars stemming from a drunken dispute in which he drove his truck into a mobile home.

Myers' attorney says authorities plan to revoke his client's furlough.
