Man Accused of Threatening Neighbors Held on $100K

William Longley, of Norridgewock, appeared in Skowhegan District Court on Monday morning through a video link from jail

A Maine man authorities say accused his neighbors of kidnapping his girlfriend and then shot at one of the neighbor's homes has been held on $100,000 cash bail.

The Morning Sentinel reports that 46-year-old William Longley, of Norridgewock, appeared in Skowhegan District Court on Monday morning through a video link from jail on charges including terrorizing with a dangerous weapon.

Prosecutors say Longley on Saturday threatened to kill his neighbors because he thought they kidnapped his girlfriend. They say he fired at least three shots into one of their homes.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office says Longley's girlfriend was not kidnapped, but had gone for a walk.

Longley's attorney at the hearing advised him to agree to the bail until a permanent attorney could be appointed.
